Quality Engineer
QUALITY ENGINEER
KMT Waterjet, a leader for Waterjet pumps, is expanding to meet the global demand for our pumps and component parts.
KMT Waterjet is currently hiring a Quality Engineer at our Baxter Springs, KS facility.
Applicant must be able to perform routine checks, tests, gauging and instrument inspections of materials, goods in process and finished goods. Assist the Quality Manager with day to day quality functions. Consult with Senior Management and customers in the absence of the Quality Manager.
FUNCTIONS and QUALIFICATIONS
o Performs assigned routine tests on materials, goods in process or finished goods where results are compared with company quality standards.
o Performs detailed visual inspection to determine quality of product where limits are not clearly defined.
o Removes defectives and places acceptable product back on line
o Visually and dimensionally examine metals to blueprint specifications.
o Visually and dimensionally examine product, machined, assembled and purchased to blueprint specifications.
o Reports results on inspection forms or charts and reports number of defects found.
o Posts and maintains forms and charts of inspection data, quality levels or special quality studies.
o Manages the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process.
o Notifies supervisor when inspection data exceeds acceptable limits or when major incidents of poor quality are noted.
o Must be proficient and have a high skill level with gauge use.
o Must be proficient and have a high skill level at reading/understanding prints and specifications.
o Must understand and perform traceability processes.
o Must understand and be proficient and mistake free in recording all product/quality related information.
o Must be able to disassemble inspect/evaluate product and reassemble.
o Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos.
o Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the Company.
o Must be proficient with computer and related software.
o CMM experience and knowledge.
o Knowledge of Warranty cost reduction processes.
o Supplier quality improvement processes.
o 6 sigma black belt certification.
o Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts.
o SPC knowledge.
o Gauge calibration knowledge.
o Machine capability study knowledge.
o ISO auditor experience.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
o Bachelor's degree or certification from technical school; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
